WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP
To maintain our project “Safe in Nairobi” a temporary shelter for women fleeing gender violence, female genital mutilation or forced marriage.
To continue our training and prevention work.
In order to be able to educate more girls who are at risk of suffering FGM and forced marriage.
In order to offer more resources to FGM survivors and safe spaces.
What is female genital mutilation?
Female genital mutilation encompasses all procedures that involve the removal of the external female genitalia or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons.
Most often, female genital mutilation is performed on girls and young women under the age of 18. No religion endorses its practice. It has no health benefits, and can cause lifelong physical and psychological trauma.
